Wait... isn't that the same as "The Prelude"?
Well, in this case we are now talking about what the house looked like "before". Please peruse the beautiful pictures of the house, that I fell in love with, before I knew it was the House from Hell. Be sure to read the wonderful story past the pictures as well.
Isn't she cute? You would have no idea the despair that lies within.
The front porch area--I hated the ironwork but I loved the ceiling in the carport!
The back room/den/family room. We knew from the beginning that this would be a perfect theater!
Another angle of the back room.
The hall bathroom. It was tiny, but functioning... or so we thought.
One of the three bedrooms. The closet size was LAUGHABLE but for a guest it was not terrible.
Two of three bedrooms. Small, with another laughable closet, but we had a plan for this room and room three of three.
Bedroom two of three again. Comedically small closet.
Master bathroom. We knew this was changing a lot too because there was so much wasted space!
Bedroom three of three. The master bathroom is connected to this room to the right. This room was a part of our redesign plan.
The kitchen is a decent size for this house. Just a simple galley style kitchen.
The kitchen sink area was really nice and I love that you can see to the back patio from it!
The dining room with yet another adorably small closet. Florida does not have basements, you'd think they would invest in bigger closets for storage!
Living room angle from the hallway leading to the bedrooms. It is huge!
Living room angle from the dining room. It is a great sized room! But those skylights have GOT TO GO.
Front door view. This is what got me.
Now for the story...
Three days "before" we are set to close on the house, we are doing a final walk through with our realtor. We are walking around the house, and I'm talking about how much I love it. We are talking about the minor upgrades we are going to make--a small room redesign to fit a walk in closet because, let's face it, I have a shopping addiction. As we are walking through, Joe gets a bad feeling. He sees a couple of things that passed inspection but are not to the quality or standards that he would like. He gets worried, and he tells me he thinks we should back out of the deal and search for another house.
Let. Me. Paint. This. Picture.
We are about to be the new homeowners on a very tight-knit street. The street is filled with older couples (read: nosey) and everyone is home because it is the middle of the pandemic. Now imagine me running out of the house in a complete panic attack because my husband says he doesn't want to buy the house that I have fallen in love with. He wants to continue searching for another home, and we currently have no home. We were staying in an AirBnB that is 325 square feet with our 23 lb cat and our alligator snapping turtle. We are already uncomfortable and this has tipped me over the edge. When I say I ran out of the house, I mean I RAN out of the house scream-crying in a full-blown, can't-breathe, going-to-puke panic attack. As I was attempting to control my breathing while hiding in the truck, I could hear our realtor telling him that there are no other homes available, that the market is just too tight right now, and we should just accept this home.
I honestly thought this was the most stressful day of my life. Boy was I wrong.
